If you’re using your physical card and try to tap for purchases of more than $250 or if your consecutive taps total more than $1,000, the merchant terminal will prompt you to insert the card and enter your PIN. Once you enter your chip and PIN, your consecutive tap limit will reset and you’ll be able to tap for up to $250 per transaction again.
